“Paper Prototype”, Indie Project 2022

A mobile puzzle platformer built in a custom Java engine while I was studying computer science, roughly 1 year of full time development. Includes a full mobile level editor that was used to make the actual in-game levels. Currently in open beta, check it out on Google Play.

Sweet Dreams, Roguelike Jam 3, 2022

This was a project that was developed in Unity over two weeks for Roguelike Jam 3, the theme was ‘flavorful’. The final project was a procedural dungeon crawler with turn based combat encounters with a particular focus on exploration. The game came 1st place Overall, 1st place for Fun, 1st place for Innovation, and 1st place for Theme.

Shadow World, Kiwijam 2022

Shadow World was a game made in 48 hours using Unity for Kiwijam 2022. The theme of the jam was ‘together’ which we expressed through a two character puzzle platformer. The game-play is focused on a series of machines with the ability to split you and other objects into a light and shadow part that each occupy different planes of reality. You solve puzzles by interacting with these two worlds.

Kaitiaki Harvest, Regenerate Game Jam Matariki 2022

Kaitiaki Harvest was a game made using Unity in 48 hours for Regenerate Game Jam Matariki 2022. The game is based around the idea of regenerative Maori foraging practices which was expressed through top down exploration and basic plant harvesting mechanics. The game came in 3rd place for Best use of theme, and 3rd place for Most likely to make an impact.

Water Creature Land Creature, Game Jam Aotearoa 2022

Water Creature Land Creature was a game made using Unity in 48 hours for the Game Jam Aotearoa 2022 following the theme of ‘Transition’. The game was a platformer where you play as a creature in a constant state of evolution between being adapted for land or adapted for water. The goal of the game is to reach the end of the level without becoming stuck in either state (water or land); getting though the level requires use of the player character’s differing movement and abilities that change depending on where they are between the two states.

JumpGuy, 2021

JumpGuy was a group project developed in Unreal Engine for 3rd year Game Programming at Victoria University; it took roughly 1 month of full time development. The game is a third person platformer where you play as a test subject trapped in an evil government training simulation. It has surreal environments along with platforming and combat encounters. The player character has special jump based movement and combat skills. I received an A+ for my work on the project.

Chaps Challenge, 2020

A remake of Chip’s Challenge done for 2nd year Software Engineering at Victoria University built in Java. It took roughly 2 weeks of full time development. You play as a little robot in top down perspective and have to get to the end of the level and gather all the keys before the timer runs out. I received an A for my work on the project.

Desert of the Digital, 2019

Side scrolling platformer made for 1st year Computer Graphics built in Java and rebuilt in JavaScript, development took roughly 1 week of full time work. You play as a digital entity in a desolate digital landscape trying to escape from computer viruses. I received an A- for my work on the project.
